Cinqo de Mayo saw the happy return of Good Pitch to Chicago. The day, which took place at the stunning Thalia Hall in the city's Mexican district, opened with a mariachi band to blow the roof off, proceeded with seven moving pitches, and was punctuated with the odd One Minute Disco. IndieWire said: "Part live crowdfunding campaign, pledge drive, and communal therapy session, the documentary funding initiative has supported more than 200 filmmakers, helped raise USD17 million in production and outreach funding, cultivated more than a thousand strategic partnerships and traveled all over the world, from New York to Washington DC, San Francisco to London, Johannesburg to Sydney." Enormous congratulations to the Chicago Media Project team who did such a splendid job of pulling it all together: from a lakeside location for the filmmaker workshop, right through to tasty post-Pitch cocktails downstairs at The Punchbowl.
